The Amsterdam University College (AUC) is an initiative of the Free University of Amsterdam and the University of Amsterdam and marks with its 5800 m² the entrance to the Science Park. The new building can accommodate 900 students. It is a striking building provided with a corten steel facade.
JAZO continued the corten steel in the front louvers and the lattice facade on the ground floor. Behind this facade you will find various technical facilities. With special attention to details it has been possible to combine design with a highly durable facade solution.
Commissioned by construction company M.J. de Nijs en Zonen, JAZO realized facilities for the technical area by using lattice facade model HS-42. The facade is partly executed with ventilation.
The Amsterdam Architecture Prize 2013 (the Golden A.A.P) was awarded on Saturday 20 April 2013 to the Amsterdam University College (AUC) building in Amsterdam Science Park.
The AUC has been designed as a home for the international community of students and teachers.
